To the landowners and water users of the Patterson Irrigation District

2021 was a difficult water supply and operations year for the Patterson Irrigation District due to the record low amounts of rainfall, diminished snowpack, depleted reservoirs and curtailments on the San Joaquin River. 2022 is now presenting itself as a more trying year than even 2015 was for the district. With a roller coaster wet season that we are experiencing, positions that the State Water Resources Control Board are taking, and even lower reservoirs PID will be experiencing higher costs than we have experienced as of late to work towards having water to serve its growers.

As a result of this, for the 2022-23 water year, PID will not be able to maintain its historic allocation of 1 foot of free water with your $60 per acre assessment and $30 per acre foot water rate. The Board of Directors voted to approve a slight increase on the rate and reducing the allocation. For 2022-23 PID's free water will be limited to 0.5 feet per acre and the water rate will be set to $45 per acre-foot. In addition, the out of District rate will be set at $82 per acre-foot to cover the costs of what it costs to deliver water without a subsidy.

Attached below is a link to the current rates letter that will be sent out the first week of March 2022.
